Provisional Licence & Eyesight Check

You must be in possession of a valid UK provisional driving licence and have it with you at the first and every subsequent lesson.

You must also be able to meet the minimum eyesight standard for driving i.e. the ability to read (with glasses or contact lenses if necessary), a car number plate from a minimum distance of 20.5 metres.

At the start of the first lesson, we will need to do an eyesight check to establish that you can meet this standard.

Alcohol/Drugs

You must be completely free from the influence of alcohol and/or drugs before getting behind the wheel.

If you are taking any prescribed medication, please check with your doctor whether this could affect your ability to drive.

Payment of Lessons

Lessons must be paid for in advance.

There are various ways you can pay.

Our preferred method of payment is via the Total Drive App. Here you can pay using your debit or credit card. (Payments use 3D secure authentication – card details are not stored or held).

We also accept cash and in-car debit/credit card payments; you can also pay through Online Banking (details of our Sort Code and Account Number will be sent to you prior to the start of your first lesson).

In the case of cash payments, we do ask that you bring the correct amount, as change cannot always be guaranteed.

Before the Lesson

You will receive a reminder 48 hours prior to your lesson.

It is important that you check-in online via the Total Drive App in order to confirm your attendance.

By pressing the “check-in” button on the app, you are also confirming that you are free from Covid symptoms.

Our Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel a lesson we would appreciate as much notice as possible as this enables us to offer that slot to another learner.

We would like to make you aware that at Arch Driver Coaching, we have a 48-hour cancellation policy, which is standard practice among driving schools these days.

This means that if you cancel your lesson with less than 48 hours notice, the full price for the lesson (dependant on lesson duration) will have to be charged to cover the loss of income to our driving school.

We do understand that unforeseen situations can arise from time to time and we may, depending on individual circumstances, waive the charge for the lesson, this decision remains however at the discretion of Arch Driver Coaching.

Cancellations due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you or your instructor have any symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19) such as a cough, high temperature, or loss/change to the sense of taste or smell or test positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19), or are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19), the instructor/learner must be informed without delay.

The lesson will then be cancelled and rearranged for a later date at no cost.

Cancellations for reasons unrelated to Coronavirus (COVID-19) will be subject to our standard cancellation policy.

Appointment Times

At Arch Driver Coaching we believe in good timekeeping.

We always allow adequate time between lessons; however, situations may arise from time to time, which can cause a lesson to run late.

If a lesson is started late, the full lesson time will be given if possible. If this is not possible, the remaining time will be added to your next lesson, or an alternative lesson will be arranged.

Test Appointments

Theory & Hazard Perception Test

It is your responsibility to book your Theory and Hazard Perception Test.

At Arch Driver Coaching we offer our learners free access to Theory Test Pro (www.theorytestpro.co.uk) to assist in their preparation.

(Access to this learning resource may be withdrawn if sharing of usernames and passwords is suspected, as these are strictly personal).

You will need to pass your Theory and Hazard Perception Test before we are able to book your Practical Driving Test.

Practical Driving Test

Your instructor is responsible for booking your Practical Driving Test, following discussion and mutual agreement.

This is for two reasons.

Firstly, it is important for your instructor to assess your progress and advise you regarding how close you are to achieving test standard. i.e. driving independently, with no verbal or physical assistance.

Secondly, it is important to ensure that both your instructor and the car are available to you on any given test date and time.

On occasion, it may be necessary to rearrange your lesson day & time to accommodate practical driving tests for other learners. Please be assured, that when it is your turn, your practical driving test date and time will be equally prioritised.

If, as your test date approaches, your instructor deems that your driving is not at test standard, you may be advised to postpone your test, until any identified issues with your driving have been addressed.

Sufficient notice will always be given, so that your test date can be changed without the test fee being lost.

If you do decide to continue with the test appointment as originally booked despite your instructor’s advice however, you will have to make alternative arrangements to find a suitable car to take your driving test in.

Gift Vouchers

Gift Vouchers must be used within 6 months from the date of purchase.

Refunds for unused gift vouchers are only given in the most exceptional of circumstances.

This remains at the discretion of Arch Driver Coaching.
