Terms & Conditions

Once we’ve done this bit, then the journey can begin!

Provisional Licence & Eyesight Check

You must be in possession of a valid UK provisional driving licence and have it with you at the first and every subsequent lesson.

You must also be able to meet the minimum eyesight standard for driving. At the start of the first lesson, we will need to do an eyesight check to establish that you can meet this standard i.e. the ability to read (with glasses or contact lenses if necessary) a car number plate from a minimum distance of 20.5 metres.

If you are taking any prescribed medication, it may be worth consulting with your GP or Pharmacist should you be in any doubt whether it may affect your ability to drive.

You must also be completely free from the influence of alcohol and/or drugs before getting behind the wheel.

Self-Testing for Covid-19

Our primary consideration is and always will be our mutual well-being, health and safety.

In light of the current surge of cases driven by the extremely infectious Omicron variant and in line with government advice to take a Covid test every time and before we meet others, we will be requiring our clients to provide evidence of a negative Covid-19 Self-Test, known as a Rapid Antigen or Lateral Flow Test, in order for a driving lesson to go ahead.

This test must be taken no more than 24 hours prior to the start of your lesson. We are also self-testing on a daily basis.

Payment of Lessons & Cancellation Policy

Lessons must be paid for in advance. There are various ways you can pay.

We accept cash or card payments; you can also pay through Online Banking (details of our Sort Code and Account Number will be sent to you prior to the start of your first lesson).

In the case of cash payments, we do ask that you bring the correct amount, as change cannot always be guaranteed.

If you do need to cancel a lesson we would appreciate as much notice as possible as this enables us to offer that slot to another learner.

We would like to make you aware that at Arch Driver Coaching we have a 48-hour cancellation policy, which is standard practice among driving schools these days.

This means that if you cancel your lesson with less than 48 hours notice, the price for the lesson (dependant on lesson duration) would have to be charged to cover the loss of income to the driving school.

We do understand that unforeseen situations can arise from time to time and we may, depending on the individual circumstances, waive the charge for the lesson, this decision remains however at the discretion of Arch Driver Coaching.

Cancellations due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Changes to our standard cancellation policy are outlined below:

If you or your instructor have had any symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) such as a cough, high temperature or loss/change to the sense of taste or smell or have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in the 10 days prior to your lesson, the instructor/learner must be informed and the lesson will be cancelled and rearranged for a later date at no cost.

If you or your instructor know, live with, or have been in contact with anyone who has symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) or has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in the 14 days prior to your lesson, the instructor/learner must be informed and the lesson will be cancelled and rearranged for a later date at no cost.

Cancellations for reasons unrelated to Coronavirus (COVID-19) will be subject to our standard cancellation policy.

Appointment Times

At Arch Driver Coaching we believe in good timekeeping.

Situations may however arise from time to time, which may cause a lesson to run late.

If a lesson is started late, the full lesson time will be given if possible. If this is not possible, the remaining time will be added to your next lesson, or an alternative lesson will be arranged.

Test Appointments

Theory & Hazard Perception Test

It is up to you to book your Theory and Hazard perception test appointment.

At Arch Driver Coaching we offer our learners free access to Theory Test Pro (www.theorytestpro.co.uk) to assist in their preparation. (Access to the Theory Test Pro website may be withdrawn if sharing of username and passwords is suspected, as these are strictly personal).

You will need to pass your Theory and Hazard Perception Test before you are able to book your Practical Driving Test.

Practical Driving Test

A Practical Driving Test will only be booked, following mutual agreement between yourself and your instructor.

This is for two reasons.

Firstly, it is important to discuss your progress and for your instructor to assess and advise you regarding how close you are to achieving test standard, i.e. driving independently, with no verbal or physical assistance.

Secondly, when looking at test availability it is important to ensure that your instructor and the car are both available at any given test date and time.

On occasion, it may be necessary to rearrange your lesson day & time to accommodate practical driving tests for other learners. Please be assured, that when it is your turn to sit your practical driving test, your test date and time will be equally prioritised.

If as your test date approaches, Arch Driver Coaching deems that your driving is not at or close to test standard, you may be advised to postpone your test, until any identified issues with your driving have been resolved.

Arch Driver Coaching will always give you sufficient notice so that you are able to change your test date without losing your test fee.

If you decide however to continue with the test appointment as originally booked despite our advice, you will have to make alternative arrangements to find a suitable vehicle to sit your test in.

Gift Vouchers

Gift Vouchers must be used within 6 months from the date of purchase.

Refunds for unused gift vouchers are only given in the most exceptional of circumstances. This remains at the discretion of Arch Driver Coaching.
